I-80 crash in Solano County leaves one dead, one injured
A tragic incident occurred on Sunday evening when a vehicle crash on Interstate 80 in Solano County resulted in one man's death and another man sustaining serious injuries. The California Highway Patrol reported that the crash took place on the eastbound lanes near American Canyon Road, east of Vallejo. During the crash, a 19-year-old man and a 40-year-old man were thrown from the vehicle. Emergency responders airlifted both individuals to the hospital, where the 19-year-old did not survive and the 40-year-old was left with major injuries. While initially all eastbound lanes were closed and then partially reopened, they were fully operational again by 8 p.m. Speed has been identified as a contributing factor in the crash, and investigations are ongoing into whether alcohol or drugs played a role, if the seatbelts were worn correctly, and who was driving at the time of the accident.
