A fatal accident on Interstate 75 early Thursday morning led to a major closure near Red Top Mountain Road in Bartow County. The crash occurred between 4:30 and 5 a.m., resulting in a significant police presence and the complete shutdown of the highway. While some northbound lanes reopened by 6:30 a.m., traffic congestion persisted, prompting commuters to seek alternate routes such as Highway 41. Southbound drivers were redirected to Highway 113, causing backups extending to Canton Highway. Despite delays, all lanes were officially reopened by 8 a.m., although residual traffic remained. Unfortunately, the crash claimed one life, with details indicating a preceding chase. The individual involved was ejected from their vehicle during the collision.
