I-70 Eastbound: Multi-vehicle Collision Update
UPDATE (7:40pm): Additional information has been provided regarding the cause of a multiple-vehicle collision on I-70 Eastbound Friday evening. Ohio County Sheriff Nelson Croft reported that during the incident, traffic on the highway had come to a halt. At that moment, a commercial vehicle hauling a trailer with a roll-off dumpster was temporarily blinded by the sun and attempted to lower the visor. Due to the glare, the driver, upon cresting a hill and spotting the stationary traffic, applied the brakes abruptly. Consequently, the vehicle veered right, colliding with one car, before swerving left and hitting four other passenger vehicles. A total of five passenger vehicles were involved in the collision, leading to six individuals being transported to nearby hospitals. Fortunately, all injuries seem to be non-life threatening. Sheriff Croft emphasized the importance of caution, as lane restrictions in Pennsylvania are expected to remain in effect for several more weeks.
