I-69 Section Closed Due to Fatal Accident Near Bloomington

A fatal collision occurred on Saturday morning on Interstate 69 just a few miles north of Bloomington, resulting in the closure of a portion of the road. The incident, which took place in the northbound lanes of I-69 near the Sample Road interchange and the East Sample Road exit at around 6 a.m., was a head-on crash involving a driver going in the wrong direction. Sadly, there was at least one fatality reported by Indiana State Police. In response, a section of I-69 has been shut down between Wayport Road and Simpson Road, with northbound traffic being redirected to State Road 46 westbound to U.S. 231. Those heading to the IU football game should anticipate traffic disruptions and are encouraged to avoid the northbound lanes of I-69, seeking alternative routes to Memorial Stadium.
