
I-68 east closed due to vehicle crash
Update: As of 3:27 p.m., the Monongalia County Sheriff's Office has released more details regarding the recent accident that caused a closure on part of I-68 over the weekend. The accident involved four vehicles near exit 7, contrary to initial reports of three vehicles. A black Ford Ranger, merging onto I-68 from Exit 7, collided with a black Subaru Legacy, lost control, and then struck a blue Ford F-150 before colliding head-on with a white Hyundai Santa Fe. The Ford Ranger rolled over and landed in a ditch on the other side of the road. Two individuals involved were taken to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, one unconscious but breathing and the other with non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency responders from multiple agencies assisted at the scene, and investigations are ongoing. Earlier updates reported that the eastbound lane of I-68 has since reopened and emergency crews have cleared the area. Monongalia County Sheriff's Office will provide more information as the situation unfolds.
