I-40 closed in Johnston County after wrong-way crash injures multiple people

In Benson, North Carolina, a three-car crash caused a closure of Interstate 40 West overnight from Saturday into Sunday morning. The incident occurred at mile marker 323 near Woodhall Dairy Drive. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the scene and found a black pickup truck and a gray passenger car had collided, with a third blue car ending up in the woods off the highway. The driver of the blue car was found to have been driving in the wrong direction on I-40 West, resulting in the collision with the other vehicles. The driver is expected to face charges, and there were multiple injuries from the crash, including the driver who is currently hospitalized.
