I-35W Northbound Reopens Following Semi-Truck Fire
The southbound lanes of I-35W near Texas Motor Speedway had to be closed early Monday morning due to a fire involving an 18-wheeler. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on I-35W between Dale Earnhardt Way and Mark Martin Drive as reported by Denton County Emergency Services District No. 1 & 2. The particular stretch of the highway where the fire occurred has two lanes. According to Northlake police, the fire only affected the 18-wheeler, which seemed to have caught fire due to sparks from a blown tire. The Texas Department of Transportation website classified the crash as severe. The 18-wheeler was carrying pork products, as stated by NPD. Normal traffic flow resumed around 8 a.m.
