I-35 southbound reopens in North Austin after investigation into deadly accident

Southbound lanes on I-35 in North Austin have been reopened after being closed for several hours due to two fatal accidents over the weekend. Austin Police Department responded to a traffic fatality on the 6000 block of I-35 Southbound late Saturday night. Main lanes were closed, and traffic was directed to service roads as investigators worked at the site. Police advised drivers to avoid the area and anticipate delays. The lanes were reopened by 4:50 a.m. Sunday. Another serious crash on U.S. 183 Southbound near Pond Springs Road resulted in at least one person sustaining life-threatening injuries and a service road closure in the 12800 block.
