I-285EB Crash at Buford Highway Closes Lanes
An accident this early morning on Thursday closed down several lanes on Interstate 285 eastbound near Buford Highway due to a fatal crash involving a vehicle heading the wrong way up an exit ramp from Buford Highway onto I-285. The driver collided with another vehicle on the ramp before continuing onto the interstate, causing a further collision and a resulting fire. Sadly, reports indicated one person in the wrong-way vehicle was found deceased at the scene, and six others were taken to the hospital. Tragically, one of the hospitalized passengers has also passed away according to Doraville police. The others remain at Grady Memorial Hospital. Authorities anticipate clearing the accident site within the next 45 minutes. The incident occurred around 5 a.m., so drivers may want to consider alternate routes until the wreckage is removed.
