I-25 south lanes near Denver closed due to semi accident

The southbound lanes of I-25, north of Denver, were shut down on Wednesday morning due to a collision involving a semi-truck and multiple vehicles. The incident occurred at mile marker 220, close to East 104th Avenue. Footage from a Colorado Department of Transportation camera showed several cars on the side of the road and the semi-truck occupying the middle of the lanes. The Northglenn Police Department confirmed the involvement of a semi-truck and three vehicles, with the semi leaking fuel. The closure affected the area between Exit 221 at 104th Avenue and Exit 220 at Thornton Parkway, leading to traffic being redirected at 104th Avenue. Several individuals were taken to the hospital, although the severity of their injuries remains unknown. Investigations are underway to determine the events leading up to the crash. CDOT hasn't provided an anticipated time for the reopening of that section of I-25, with significant traffic congestion reported for miles.
