I-25 shut down in both directions in Northern CO due to 2 semi-truck collision
On Thursday morning, a collision involving two semi-trucks occurred on I-25 north of Mead in Northern Colorado, leading to the closure of both directions of the highway. The incident, which took place at mile marker 247 beneath the Weld County Road 38 overpass at 3:16 a.m., involved one southbound and one northbound semi-truck. A Freightliner transporting office supplies southbound veered off the road, striking barriers before colliding with a northbound semi carrying gasoline. The Freightliner then overturned, obstructing both directions of the interstate. Additionally, numerous barriers were displaced, and debris littered the road, prompting an extensive cleanup effort by the Colorado State Patrol Hazmat Unit, the Colorado Department of Transportation, and fire crews. Despite causing minor injuries to one of the semi drivers, who did not require hospitalization, the prolonged closure resulted in significant delays for commuter traffic.
