Houston woman faces DWI charge following fatal downtown collision.

A tragic incident occurred on Sunday evening on North Chartres Street in Houston, resulting in the death of a male pedestrian. The Houston Police Department is conducting an investigation into the incident, which involved 29-year-old Shantel Katelyn Thomas. Thomas was driving northbound when her vehicle collided with the pedestrian, who was crossing eastbound without using a designated crosswalk. Thomas, who stayed at the scene, was found to be impaired and was subsequently arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. The victim, a 67-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics. His identity has not been disclosed by officials at this time.
