Hospitalized woman in moped crash, HPD stresses safe driving

Honolulu police are currently investigating a serious accident involving a moped that occurred early in the morning in Kaimuki. Reports show that the incident took place at 1 a.m. on Kapiolani Boulevard, where a 34-year-old woman lost control of her moped, resulting in her sliding and getting thrown onto the road. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and transported her to a nearby hospital in serious condition, which unfortunately worsened, leaving her in critical condition. With summer approaching, authorities are reminding the public to practice safe driving habits. This year, there have been 27 traffic fatalities on Oahu, significantly higher than the same period last year. The period between Memorial Day and Labor Day is known as the "100 Deadliest Days of Summer," with increased traffic and more risks on the road. Honolulu police have increased their night enforcement unit by 142 percent, resulting in more arrests related to speeding and impaired driving.
