Hit-and-run accident hurts 11, incl. kids, at Maryland birthday gathering

A child's birthday party turned into a chaotic scene on Saturday night when a driver struck a group of people outside a home in Bladensburg, injuring 11 individuals before fleeing the scene. The incident occurred on 56th Avenue around 10:14 p.m., prompting a response from law enforcement to investigate the serious collision. The vehicle, coming from the Annapolis Road area, hit the crowd gathered for the celebration. The injured were transported to various local hospitals, with three to Capital Regional Medical Center, one to Howard University Hospital, and seven children aged 2 to 9 to Children's National Hospital. The driver fled on foot, and authorities are actively pursuing leads to identify the suspect and determine the cause of the accident. The Bladensburg Police Department is leading the investigation, with support from the Prince George's County Police. Annapolis Road remains closed within the vicinity as the investigation continues.
