Highway 55 shut in both directions at Avimor because of brush fire caused by car crash
The Boise County Sheriff's Office announced on Facebook that both directions of travel on Highway 55 have been reopened as of 5:37 p.m. on August 3. Stay tuned to Idaho News 6 for more updates as they become available. Additionally, an Idaho State Police officer informed Idaho News 6 that they are aiming to fully reopen Highway 55 in the next hour. The brush fire resulting from a collision, covering 1-2 acres, has been extinguished. Please be advised that Highway 55 remains closed between Avimor and Horseshoe Bend Hill Summit due to a fatal motorcycle versus car accident that led to a brushfire, as reported by the Boise County Sheriff's Office and Eagle Fire Department. Ada County Sheriff's Office deputies, Ada County Paramedics, and the Eagle Fire Department, along with support from Horseshoe Bend first responders, are currently on-site. Traffic along the highway is at a standstill, so it is advised to avoid the area until the road is fully cleared, and the brushfire is under control. This story is still developing.
