Highway 285 shut down in both ways due to three-vehicle collision at Highway 8 on Monday morning
A fatal accident occurred in a three-vehicle collision on Monday morning at the junction of Highway 285 and Colorado State Highway 8, as reported by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. Initial findings indicate that a driver going the wrong way collided with two other vehicles, according to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP). At the scene, Denver7's Traffic Expert Jayson Luber saw firefighters assisting individuals trapped in two vehicles on northbound Highway 285. Emergency responders transported a total of four people to nearby hospitals, with three in critical condition, as stated by West Metro Fire Rescue. Due to the ongoing crash investigation, the affected section of the road will remain closed for the morning. Sheriff's deputies have recommended seeking alternative routes, such as using Highway 8 to Morrison and then C-470, or taking S. Turkey Creek Road after The Fort restaurant to bypass the closure. Those who witnessed the accident and have not yet contacted investigators are urged to call CSP Patrol Dispatch at 303-239-4501.
