High School Swimmer from Nicolet Hospitalized After Accident

Authorities in Mequon are currently looking into a serious head-on crash that took place on Pioneer Road near North Klug Lane on Wednesday. A 16-year-old named Grant Freeze was flown to Froedtert Hospital by Flight for Life due to life-threatening injuries sustained when his SUV crossed into the path of an oncoming dump truck. Unfortunately, Freeze's injuries are too severe for recovery, but his family shared that he will be an organ donor, potentially saving five lives. The community, including Nicolet Union High School where Freeze was an active student and athlete, is mourning his loss. School Superintendent Greg Kabara mentioned that Freeze was known for his accomplishments in swimming and his impact on those around him. The school will offer resources for counseling to support those affected by this tragic incident. Freeze was alone in his vehicle during the collision, with authorities investigating the cause of the accident.
