High school senior from Anderson dies in Monday morning collision

The principal of Anderson High School, Brian Lancaster, shared the sad news in a letter that a senior student named Malachi Jenson tragically lost his life in a car crash early Monday morning. The Austin Police Department confirmed the incident, reporting that the 17-year-old Malachi was involved in a single-vehicle accident on North Capital of Texas Highway. Despite efforts by authorities, Malachi had passed away at the scene, while another passenger was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Principal Lancaster fondly remembered Malachi as a cheerful presence on campus, appreciated by many for his humor and kindness both in the classrooms and on the football team. The school is making grief counselors available to offer support to students and staff during this difficult time. Parents can contact the school's front office at (512) 414-2538 if their child requires assistance. The Austin Police Department urges anyone with information about the crash to reach out to their vehicular homicide unit at (512) 974-8111.
