Helicopter accident on Sacramento freeway leaves 3 in critical condition

Authorities are currently looking into a recent incident where a medical helicopter crashed on a Sacramento freeway Monday evening. The Sacramento Fire Department reported that the helicopter, operated by REACH, went down around 7 p.m. on eastbound Highway 50 near 59th Street. The three individuals on board - a pilot, a nurse, and a paramedic - sustained critical injuries and were transported to local hospitals. Fortunately, no vehicles on the freeway were involved. Responders found two crew members in the road and one trapped under the helicopter upon arrival. With the help of a fire captain and bystanders, the trapped crew member was freed. REACH released a statement, noting they are working to gather more information on the incident and the condition of their crew. The cause of the crash is still being investigated. Additionally, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office is assisting the California Highway Patrol in this matter. Some footage and images obtained show the aftermath of the crash, with the helicopter overturned across multiple lanes.
