Head-on crash in Warren County leaves two seriously injured

WARREN COUNTY, Iowa -- Two people were seriously injured in a head-on crash in Warren County early Monday morning. The crash happened just after 6:00 a.m. on County Road G76, just east of the New Virginia exit off I-35, according to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol. A Subaru Outback driven by 19-year-old Gabriel Stansell was traveling eastbound on G76 when the vehicle collided head-on in the westbound lane with a Jeep Wrangler driven by 47-year-old Aaron Wickett. Both drivers are from New Virginia. The ISP report said Stansell was transported from the scene to MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center by air ambulance, suffering from serious injuries. Wickett was also seriously injured and was transported to the same hospital by ground ambulance. Their current conditions have not been released. The Iowa State Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
