Head-on crash in Socorro results in injuries
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – A head-on collision on Tuesday afternoon, May 27 along Horizon Boulevard in Socorro sent an unknown number of people to the hospital. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, which is now leading the investigation, called it a “major crash” that happened along Horizon Boulevard at Robin Road. Socorro Police, which were the first agency to respond, said that at about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, a vehicle was traveling southbound along the 1100 block of Horizon Boulevard when “for unknown reasons,” it veered off course and collided with another vehicle that was heading in the opposite direction. All occupants of the vehicles were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. Socorro Police did not say how many people were hurt or how badly injured they were. Socorro Police requested the assistance of the Sheriff’s Office and its Special Traffic Investigations Unit. The Sheriff’s Office will lead the investigation. Horizon Boulevard was closed at crash site until about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. This is a developing story and we will update it when we learn more.
