Head-on crash in Bennington County leaves Massachusetts man dead, police say
A Massachusetts man has died following a head-on crash in Bennington County.The crash happened on Vermont Route 9 in Searsburg on Wednesday morning, according to Vermont State Police. Investigators said Alan Vautrain, 53, of Ludlow, Mass, was driving east when he entered the opposing lane and crashed into another driver.VSP said both drivers tried to swerve out of the way but could not avoid the crash.Vautrain died at the scene, police said. A 72-year-old Wilmington, Vermont man suffered minor injuries from the crash.An investigation into what happened is ongoing.
