Guilty verdict for Florissant man in deadly street racing collision

The guilty verdict for a Florissant man, Jaron Sims, was delivered by jurors in St. Louis on Wednesday in connection to a deadly street racing accident that resulted in the tragic loss of a 63-year-old woman's life. The incident occurred on July 8, 2022, on St. Louis Avenue in the St. Louis Place neighborhood. Sims, 37, was convicted on multiple charges, including engaging in illegal street racing that led to a collision with another vehicle carrying three individuals. Adrianne Holloway, the 63-year-old victim, along with a 2-year-old child and the child's father suffered severe injuries, with Holloway tragically passing away three days later. Prosecutors showcased evidence indicating that Sims and another driver were racing at high speeds, both running a red light at North 20th Street. Reflecting on the conviction, Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore expressed a commitment to holding individuals responsible for endangering lives through reckless driving behaviors. During the three-day trial, Sims chose to represent himself and has a history of prior convictions for assault, robbery, and unlawful weapon use. Additionally, while in custody for the street racing incident, he faced further charges for allegedly assaulting a corrections officer. A sentencing date has been set for Oct. 9, 2025.
