Girard man dies in fatal crash Monday morning

Tragedy struck on Monday morning just north of Pittsburg, as an accident at the junction of Highway 69 and Highway 160 claimed the life of a man from Girard, Kansas. Kansas Highway Patrol reported that 21-year-old Matthew Jeffrey Westhoff-Strode was traveling east through the intersection when his vehicle was struck by a pickup truck driven by a 16-year-old boy who ignored a red light. Westhoff-Strode sadly lost his life, while the teenager emerged unscathed from the incident.
