SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A plane crashed into several homes and vehicles in San Diego's Murphy Canyon neighborhood early Thursday, leaving a fiery trail of destruction. San Diego Fire-Rescue Chief Dan Eddy described the scene as a "gigantic debris field," with extensive damage to structures. Residents reported hearing a loud explosion and fleeing their homes amid thick smoke and flames. Evacuation orders were implemented and emergency response crews searched impacted residences as black smoke lingered over the crash site.
