Fundraising for family killed in tragic I-85 crash.
A fundraiser has been set up on GoFundMe to help the family of the eight individuals who tragically lost their lives in a devastating crash on Interstate 85 in Jackson County earlier this week. The goal of the fundraiser is to reach $100,000. While the victims' names have not been officially released, photos of them are included on the fundraising page. Efforts to confirm their identities have been made with the Jackson County Coroner's Office and the Georgia State Patrol. The organizer of the GoFundMe, Tony Alvarenga, expressed the deep sorrow felt by the family over their sudden loss and the comfort found in knowing their loved ones are now at peace. The fatal crash occurred when a semi-truck rear-ended the family's car, causing it to catch fire and resulting in the tragic loss of all eight family members. One victim was reported to be pregnant by relatives. The collisions also involved four other vehicles, with several individuals sustaining injuries but expected to recover. The driver of the semi-truck, Kane Aaron Hammock, 33, of Gainesville, has been arrested and charged with various offenses, including homicide and feticide as confirmed by the Georgia State Patrol.
