Freight train collides with car in Arbutus per CSX
A car was hit by a freight train on the tracks in the Arbutus area early Wednesday morning. The incident occurred near the St. Denis MARC station at Maple and Arlington avenues, in an area without a railroad crossing. Fortunately, the driver of the stalled vehicle managed to exit safely before the collision, and there were no injuries reported to the driver or anyone on the train. An investigation revealed that the car likely traveled down Arlington Avenue and passed through an old chain meant to prevent access to the tracks. Residents commented on the need for stronger barriers in the area to enhance safety. Additionally, a Maryland Transit Administration crew was observed working on installing a more secure chain following the incident. The driver, identified as an Amazon delivery worker by the vest he was wearing, was seen transferring packages from the damaged car to the police vehicle. Inquiries were made to Amazon for their input on the situation.
