Four people hospitalized following severe collision in Taunton

An investigation is being conducted into a serious crash that occurred in Taunton, injuring two drivers critically. The Bristol County District Attorney's Office reported that emergency responders were called to Somerset Avenue following reports of a collision involving three vehicles: a 2018 Dodge Challenger, a 2008 Toyota Camry, and a 2021 Ram pickup truck. The Challenger and Camry sustained significant front-end damage, while the Ram truck was damaged on the rear driver's side. A local resident, Grace Robens, shared hearing two loud bangs and witnessing smoke after the crash. The driver of the Challenger is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, while the Camry driver has been stabilized after sustaining critical injuries. Other individuals involved in the crash were taken to the hospital for treatment of less severe injuries. The cause of the crash is under investigation, and the road had to be closed for hours to clear debris. Residents of the area, such as Rachel Lomba, have expressed concern about the frequency of accidents on that road and hope for increased safety measures, such as flashing lights and signage.
