Former Vermilion Parish sheriff dies in fatal accident
Authorities in Vermilion Parish reported a fatal two-vehicle accident on LA. 338 near Bonvillian Road, claiming the life of former Vermilion Parish Sheriff Charles Levine, aged 56. The incident involved a Ford F-150 and a GMC Sierra, with Levine driving the Ford. The Ford allegedly crossed into the eastbound lane, colliding head-on with the GMC, resulting in the Ford catching fire. Unfortunately, Levine passed away at the scene, while the GMC driver sustained severe injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. Both drivers had toxicology samples taken for analysis. The crash is currently being investigated.
