
Former Ohio State standout and NFL player Kirk Barton charged in deadly accident
Kirk Barton, a former Ohio State football player and NFL Draft pick, faces charges of aggravated vehicular homicide after a deadly collision in Dublin, Ohio early Saturday. Barton, a 40-year-old resident of Lewis Center, allegedly was driving a Ford F150 Raptor pickup truck at a high speed on US 33 before the incident occurred. The accident, which took place in Historic Dublin, involved a Lexus vehicle on West Bridge Street resulting in the death of 24-year-old Ethan Perry. Barton, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was treated at Riverside Methodist Hospital before being taken into police custody. He is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on Monday morning. Barton, known for his football career at Ohio State from 2003 to 2007, was selected by the Chicago Bears in the 2008 NFL Draft and later played for various NFL teams before retiring in 2010.
