Ford suspends operations at Kentucky plant following fatal UPS plane crash

Operations at the Ford Louisville Assembly Plant (LAP) in Kentucky were temporarily halted on Tuesday following a UPS cargo plane crash nearby, resulting in the tragic loss of eleven lives and injuries to several others. The crash occurred shortly after UPS Flight 2976 departed from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, close to the plant. Ford's manufacturing director, Jessica Enoch, informed FOX Business that a partial crew would be working to resume full production at LAP after the incident, assuring that there were no employee injuries reported. Following safety protocols, LAP employees were advised to stay inside before being evacuated, and power to the facility was turned off. LAP remained closed through Wednesday's day shift due to the power outage. The plant is known for producing the Ford Escape and is set to manufacture an electric pickup truck as part of a $2 billion investment by Ford. The tragic crash has deeply affected the community, with Kentucky's governor Andy Beshear urging prayers for the affected families during this difficult period.
