Football player from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College dies in car accident

Mississippi Gulf Coast is deeply saddened by the loss of football player Marcus Dickey, who tragically passed away in a car accident. Dickey, a 22-year-old transfer defensive lineman from Nicholls State, was returning to Perkinston after attending a game in Thibodaux, La. Gulf Coast's football coach, Jack Wright, fondly remembers Dickey as a dedicated and hardworking team member, always displaying a positive attitude and a warm smile. The team plans to honor Dickey throughout the season. Counselors will be available to support Dickey's teammates, coaches, and staff during this difficult time. Dr. Mary S. Graham, the president of MGCCC, expressed her condolences and stressed the importance of unity and support in the athletics community. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Dickey Brothers Memorial Funeral Home, as the Gulf Coast family mourns the loss of a cherished member. Dean of Athletics, Steven Campbell, emphasized that Marcus will always be remembered as an exceptional individual and an integral part of the Gulf Coast family.
