In Hancock County, a helicopter crash resulted in a pilot escaping with a broken leg after the aircraft hit powerlines and landed on its side. Thankfully, there is no ongoing emergency beyond the power restoration efforts. The Emergency Management Agency (EMA) has drone footage of the incident that will be shared with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Meanwhile, the fire department is addressing the fungicide and aluminum aboard the helicopter. The crash caused a disruption in power service for 3,600 members of Hancock County. Crews from Kenergy and Big Rivers are actively working to repair the downed power lines, with 506 members still affected. Emergency responders are en route to the scene, urging people to steer clear of the area where the crash occurred. The pilot sustained minor injuries and has been taken to a hospital for treatment, with efforts underway to recover and repair the power lines promptly.
