Florida sues California and Washington over truck driver accident
Florida's top prosecutor has filed a lawsuit against Washington and California following an incident where a truck driver, Harjinder Singh, was arrested in Stockton for causing a fatal crash in Florida. Attorney General James Uthmeier alleges that the two states are not in compliance with federal immigration laws and are also failing to uphold federal safety regulations related to commercial driver’s licenses, needed to operate larger vehicles like 18-wheelers. Singh, who caused the fatal crash, had a CDL that Uthmeier argues he should not have had. The crash resulted in the loss of three lives, and Singh is facing charges of vehicular homicide. Florida authorities have escorted Singh back to Florida to face justice. Uthmeier also mentions a case in Washington where an undocumented immigrant was granted a driver's license despite failing the CDL exam multiple times.
