Florida AG subpoenas employer of Stockton truck driver in fatal crash.

The employer of a truck driver from Stockton involved in a fatal crash in Florida is under scrutiny by Florida's Attorney General James Uthmeier, who has issued multiple federal subpoenas. The driver, Harjinder Singh, was brought to Florida with the help of Lt. Gov. Jay Collins after waiving his extradition in a San Joaquin County courtroom. Singh's alleged illegal U-turn on the turnpike caused a collision that resulted in three fatalities in St. Lucie County. Attorney General Uthmeier revealed in a press conference that his office has served civil and criminal subpoenas to Singh's employer, White Hawk Carriers Inc. Additionally, legal requests have been made to California and Washington for information regarding Singh's commercial driver's license. Singh's immigration history has become a topic of discussion in the political realm, as he entered the U.S. unlawfully in 2018 prior to Governor Newsom's term and applied for asylum in the same year. Singh's commercial driver's license complies with federal Real ID regulations. He faces charges of manslaughter and vehicular homicide, as well as potential deportation to India.
