Five fatalities following collision of train and automobile in northern Indiana
Five individuals lost their lives in a tragic incident on Wednesday night in Indiana when their car was struck by a train. The collision took place at the intersection of U.S. Route 20 and Utah Street in Gary, Indiana around 10 p.m. Witnesses stated that the driver attempted to bypass the lowered crossing gate in an effort to outpace the train. Sadly, all five occupants of the SUV were thrown from the vehicle upon impact, resulting in fatal injuries. Authorities are still working to confirm the identities of the victims.
