First court appearance for Ybor City crash suspect accused of ramming into crowd and killing 4
Just a day following the tragic crash in Ybor City that resulted in four fatalities and several injuries, the Hillsborough State Attorney's Office has filed a motion to keep the suspect, Silas Sampson, in custody. Sampson, 22, is facing multiple charges including four counts of vehicular homicide and four counts of aggravated fleeing to elude causing bodily injury or death. Prosecutors have raised concerns about Sampson posing a danger to the community and have cited that no conditions of release could ensure public safety or guarantee his appearance in court. The incident occurred when Sampson allegedly rammed into a crowd outside Bradley's on 7th in Ybor City. Authorities mentioned that Sampson tried to flee the scene but was apprehended with the vehicle key in his possession. A court hearing has been scheduled for Thursday to determine whether he will be granted bail or remain detained until the trial. Anyone who witnessed the crash has been urged to contact Florida Highway Patrol.
