First "black box" from crashed Boeing 787-8 found in Ahmedabad
In Ahmedabad, India, authorities recovered one of the crucial "black boxes" - the flight data and cockpit voice recorders - from the wreckage of the Air India flight 171 that crashed. The tragic incident resulted in the loss of almost all passengers aboard the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner and several individuals on the ground. Indian aviation official Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu announced the recovery of the Flight Data Recorder in a social media post, highlighting its importance for the ongoing investigation into the crash. These data recorders will play a vital role in determining the cause of the accident shortly after the flight departed for London's Gatwick Airport. Following the crash, India's aviation regulator has instructed Air India to conduct additional safety checks on its Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft within two weeks. Meanwhile, U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy emphasized the need for American investigators to assess the wreckage and evidence before considering any actions regarding grounding similar aircraft in the U.S. The tragic event, which was captured on video, involved the aircraft encountering issues shortly after takeoff and crashing into nearby buildings. Despite the devastation, one passenger miraculously survived with minor injuries. The international response to the calamity involved collaborative efforts between Indian, U.S., and British authorities, as a significant number of passengers were from the U.K. and the aircraft was of U.S. origin. At the crash site, forensic teams and officials worked to identify the victims through DNA testing due to the extensive damage caused by the incident. The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the location, expressing profound sorrow over the harrowing event.
