Firefighters attacked during Copiah County crash response
In Copiah County, Mississippi, Sheriff Byron Swilley reported that four volunteer firefighters were attacked when they were attending to a fatal accident on Lilly Road early in the morning on August 3rd. The collision involved three vehicles, with two of them colliding head-on. Unfortunately, one driver was pronounced dead on-site, while another was taken to Copiah County Medical Center before being airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Despite this tragic event, the sheriff mentioned that no charges have been laid, and investigations are currently ongoing. Following the clearing of the accident scene by deputies, they were able to reach out to the driver of the third vehicle.
