Firefighter killed in traffic accident on the way to grass fire

A firefighter from Murdo tragically passed away while en route to a significant grass fire on Saturday evening. The incident, a single-vehicle crash, occurred near Draper, SD, as detailed in a press release. The firefighter, aged 37, was driving a fire truck on 279th street when it veered off the road and overturned. Regrettably, the driver was ejected from the truck and succumbed to injuries at the scene. Authorities note that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is currently investigating the accident; the identity of the individual has not yet been disclosed pending family notification.
