Filing of charges a week after deadly fiery crash on I-540 in Raleigh, according to police.
The Raleigh Police Department recently announced that Joseph Murrin III, aged 56, is facing charges related to the fatal accident on Interstate 540 West in north Raleigh last week. Murrin is accused of committing an unsafe lane change violation and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle as the driver of the Subaru Forester involved in the collision with a Chevrolet S10, driven by 22-year-old Antonio Aguirre Vargas. The incident occurred when the Subaru attempted to change lanes on I-540 West, resulting in a collision with the Chevrolet. This caused both vehicles to hit trees and fly into the nearby woods. The collision led to the closure of I-540 West for several hours on July 31, with the S10 catching fire and tragically resulting in the death of Vargas.
