Fiancée of victim criticizes plea deal in deadly DUI crash in Phoenix
Kaylynn Dawe is speaking out against the plea deal offered to the man accused of killing her fiancé, Leo Kelly, in a tragic incident in Phoenix last year. Dawe described Kelly as a kind and loving person who had big dreams. The accused driver, Griffin Kjar, was reportedly driving over the speed limit when he fatally struck Kelly. Dawe believes the proposed sentence of six to eight years for manslaughter and reckless endangerment is insufficient and does not bring justice for Leo. The loss of her soulmate has deeply affected Dawe, and she is frustrated by the perceived lack of accountability in this case. She expressed her concerns about the short prison sentence that Kjar may receive compared to the lifelong grief she and Kelly's family will experience. The sentencing for Kjar is scheduled for August 5th, and Kelly's family plans to attend to seek justice for their loved one.
