FHP says social media post linked to fatal Lake County crash

The Florida Highway Patrol has stated that they are investigating a tragic crash that occurred in Lake County, which involved a viral social media video. The crash took place early Sunday morning on State Road 19, resulting in the deaths of three women - Kaneisha Lewis, Aqutavia Pew, and Shaykaylah Mathis. Another passenger, Mariah Belcher, survived but sustained critical injuries. The occupants were ejected from their vehicle as none were wearing seatbelts. Authorities are still awaiting toxicology reports to determine the cause of the crash, including analyzing vehicle data from the video. The investigation is ongoing to establish if distractions, impairment, or other factors played a role. The incident serves as a grave reminder of the importance of wearing seatbelts and the dangers of distracted driving. There are fundraising efforts for the victims' families, including a prayer vigil organized by the Mayor of Eustis at Carver Park this Sunday, April 6, at 5 p.m.
