Father advocates for safety enhancements after daughter's deadly motorbike accident in La Jolla

A father in San Diego is advocating for increased safety measures on a La Jolla road following the tragic death of his 20-year-old daughter in a motorcycle accident recently. The motorcycle that Viviana Rose purchased in April now sits in her father Ruben Holguin's truck, serving as a reminder of the early morning journey she took to the ocean last Friday. Holguin expressed that his daughter often found solace at the ocean, where she would go to clear her mind. Unfortunately, she was fatally injured on her way home on Torrey Pines Road at around 3 a.m. when her motorcycle crashed into the center median near Roseland Drive, ejecting her from the bike. Holguin described his daughter as a vibrant and creative individual who was known for her outgoing personality. He expressed concerns about the visibility of the median, stating that it can be difficult to see, particularly when descending the hill, and noted the lack of signage indicating its presence. Holguin believes that proper signage and reflectivity could help prevent future tragedies on this road. The City of San Diego is currently reviewing the incident, and a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to assist Rose's family with funeral costs.
