Fatality on Route 1 claims Columbia resident's life
A man from Columbia passed away on Wednesday afternoon after a solo car accident on Route 1 in Milbridge. According to Maine State Police, 79-year-old Clyde Samuelson Jr. was driving an eastbound 2011 Ford pickup when it went off the road and into a ditch between Route 1 and the Sunrise Trail at around 2:23 p.m. Samuelson, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was declared deceased at the scene following attempts to save his life. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Milbridge Fire Department provided support. The crash is currently being investigated to determine the cause.
