Fatality on Interstate 35 as Pedestrian Struck
A fatal accident took place on north-bound Interstate 35, headed south, resulting in the death of one person overnight, as reported by local authorities. The Austin Police Department responded to a traffic fatality at 11:50 p.m. on Saturday, which led to the closure of all southbound mainlanes of I-35 for investigation. Traffic was redirected to service roads by APD. Austin-Travis County EMS confirmed that a pedestrian on the highway was struck by a vehicle and tragically passed away at the scene. The driver of the vehicle involved cooperated with authorities. Additionally, ATCEMS stated that two individuals from a separate accident sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.
