Fatality in Sumner Tunnel worsens Boston traffic.

One individual passed away as a result of a fatal collision early this morning near the intersection of the Sumner Tunnel and Interstate 93 at Government Center, leading to significant traffic delays in Boston. Authorities reported that the incident occurred at 3:30 a.m. within the tunnel, involving a 70-year-old driver who was trapped in their vehicle. Responding teams, including Massachusetts State Police, Boston fire, and emergency medical services worked to extricate the driver, who was then transported to Massachusetts General Hospital. Unfortunately, the driver did not survive, and their identity is being withheld pending family notification. The crash is currently being investigated, with lanes remaining closed within the tunnel as of 6:30 a.m. In addition, traffic in Boston was further affected by the closure of the westbound lane of the Mass Pike near Fenway Park due to a vehicle fire.
