Fatality in skydiver collision at Atlanta airport

A tragic incident occurred at Skydive-Atlanta in Upson County over the weekend resulting in the death of a Georgia skydiver, identified as 48-year-old Jasmine Black from Locust Grove. The fatal accident took place when Black's parachute collided with another diver's during a jump on Saturday afternoon. Despite Black's experience of over 160 jumps, the emergency chute failed to deploy at the low altitude after she cut away her main parachute following the collision. The Upson County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene at Thomaston-Upson County Airport and found Black deceased upon arrival. The Federal Aviation Administration is participating in the investigation of this unfortunate event.
