Fatality in Huntington Beach after suspect crashes during police chase

During the early hours of Saturday morning, a fatal crash occurred in Huntington Beach after a police pursuit of a driver. The Huntington Beach Police Department responded to reports of a driver driving erratically and running red lights at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Brookhurst Street. The officers later found the vehicle near Beach Boulevard and Talbert Avenue, but when they tried to pull the driver over, the driver refused to stop, prompting a chase. The pursuit ended when the suspect's vehicle collided with another car at Beach and Warner Avenue, then crashed into a pole at high speed. Unfortunately, despite efforts from first responders, the suspect did not survive their injuries. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision was unharmed and declined hospitalization. The California Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into the crash, and no information about the suspect has been released yet. None of the officers involved in the pursuit were injured.
