Fatality in Glacier National Park: Provo resident killed in climbing incident
A tragic incident occurred in Glacier National Park in Montana on Wednesday when a man from Provo fell to his death while climbing. The man, identified as Brian Astle, aged 42, fell while descending a steep, off-trail climbing route on Mount Gould. Astle's body was recovered the following morning after crews from Two Bear Air postponed their efforts due to safety concerns. It is said that Astle was found around 10 a.m. the morning after the fall. Mount Gould stands at 9,557 feet and it is uncertain how high Astle was when the tragic incident occurred. Glacier National Park, as well as other agencies like ALERT and the Flathead County Sheriff's Office, collaborated in the recovery operation. The park has extended their condolences to the family of the victim and is requesting privacy for the grieving family.
